Well nothing has changed in the 10 years then. Too many people, cars, traffic, good looking women, money, grey hairs.

Remind me in Oct how great the weather is, ha. When it's still 105 and you are sick of it. When swimming pools get hotter than bath tubs, and a truck load of ice is the only thing that makes it better. Been there and done that!

Are you up in Scottsdale, P.V. or Glendale? I remember when an older farmer who would not sell out to developers passed away. His family sold within a week of his passing and the developer tourched the old shack they called a home. Family got about 15 mill for the land.

>>How long you been in the Valley? I did about 4 years. I also lived in Flagstaff and Sedona. PHX was too much keeping up with the Jones for me. I'm glad that I left though. Not that Memphis is the best, far from it, especially for FoxPro Professionals.
>
>I've only been out here about a year and a half. Flag and Sedona are just a little too far north to suit me, they get real snow up there, and that's a 4 letter word for me. Yeah, Phoenix is a bit much sometimes, but compared to the backwater place in PA I used to live, it's great! So much more opportunity for my wife's career and my kids being exposed to many more things then were available in NE PA. And we just love the weather out here, especially this time of year.
>
>>
>>What was lacking in Phx was a family feeling. Everyone had moved from somewhere else, and what it was like there.
>
>That's kind of the way it is out here. Almost everyone is from somewhere else. But our neighborhood is pretty tight, as it was a new one, and we all moved in pretty much at the same time. As for family, I have a brother who's lived here in Phoenix for about 15 years.

>>Now things could have changed since 88. All I hear is that it's an extension of LA. Memphis is an extension of Yahoo Mississippi.
>
>Yeah, LA East. Definitely a love affair with the car, here, too. Right now it's a little tough to get around the city as most of it is under construction. But in a couple of years, it should be better. Maybe not, as there are literally thousands of new people moving in everyday, and even those new roads will probably be clogged!

>>>>America West or Southwest doesn't have a flight for 79. one way?
>>>
>>>Haven't checked Southwest, their web-site is SO S.L.O.W.! America West wasn't cheap when I checked last, but now that their threat of a strike has been averted, that may change. I'll propbably still drive, though, since it's close.

>>>
>>>You couldn't drag me from here for any reason, at least not in the winter! PA was such a dreary place from October-April. Light deprevation and all that. Not a problem here in the Valley of the Sun!
>>>
>>>>
>>>>Remember that they are booking for profit. You purchase winter clothers at the end of winter to save money. You book in the early off season to the desert and one that is close to them. Advisor is a LA based company?
>>>
>>>True. Can't fault them for trying to save some money. I guess that's why they instituted "drink tickets"?

>>>>>>I think that we are confusing M$ & FPA. FPA does the whole job and M$ just gets some enginners to show up as well as Mr. Green.

>>>>>>Location does suck for this year.
>>>>>
>>>>>Well, that depends. It's close for me (Phoenix), but I'll still have to drive ~5 hrs, if I go. Getting a flight from Phoenix to Palm Springs is outrageously priced, at least it was several months ago when I last checked. And whose bright idea was to have it in the desert in June?
>>>>>
>>>>>>
>>>>>>Putting the location of DEVCON to a hub is also a bit pollitical. Who's HUB? My frequent flyer miles are based on Northwest. They have a hub here in Memphis, Detroit, and Minneapolis. But if you are a United, or Delta traveler you get no "hub" savings from those cities.
>>>>>
>>>>>Next thing you'll know, they'll have DevCon in Minneapolis in January. Won't THAT be fun! ;) (NorthWest is my usual airline, too.)
>>>>>
>>>>>>
>>>>>>It's up to Advisor Pub and oly them. They have to get a rate and pack in the bodies for 3 or 4 conferences back to back. They do more than just VFP. So Advisor finds their best rates on a month of meeting rooms as well as hotel rooms to accomidate up to 2000 people per week.
>>>>>>
>>>>>>Granted that this year VFP will be a bust, I too cannot just take off for non profound DevCons. Give me a NEW version or functionality just released because of a fix to ADO and I might get to go.

>>>>>>>>I agree with the comments on a hub city! MS/Advisor had to gotten a cheap rate for Palm Springs in June. Plus with this being a DevCon without a new version my company isn't all that geared up to send me. They don't seem to care that it is the 10th anniversery. 8-)
>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>I will be surprised if they have a count of over 1,200.

>>>>>>>>>As Craig says, LAX is an alternative. I don't know about transporation from there...it's about 90 minutes someone said from LAX. As for me, it's so much higher (and I figure I'd have to rent a car anyway in LAX) that I'm gonna drive (from Alb).
>>>>>>>>>
