It looks like you have coded the 'skip' handling procedurally, is it possible that you also specified 'skip' processing when you built your menu, or are the pads and bars all defined procedurally? The 'skip' processing in the menu builder is activated / run each time the menu is activated, thus overriding any procedural coding.
