Agreed. However, we're not asking them to tell us how it works, just in light of how they know it works, what should we do in a given situation. I know they can't cover all possibilities, but this is a major one that affects all of us in probably most applications. And I remember at DevCon 96 (VFP5), George Goley stressing to do queries, if at all possible, with SET DELETED OFF for speed. But if DELETED was SET ON, you better have that index on DELETED(). At least, that's what I remember and I'm not trying to put words into George's mouth. And if I'm not correct on this I will retract. At any rate, it seems the issue is not quite as clear cut as this and I would appreciate it if the MS crowd would address it since, it would seem, they are the only ones who can really know the bottom line.
