>I just came back from AppDev VFP 6.0 training. It was highly suggested to buy an third party framework. From what I learned, there are two kinds: "data centered" and "form centered" framework. I like to ask what you experience with frameworks. I was told that "data centered" framework are flexable with SQL Server while "form centered" framework works best for forms (front end). I am looking for "form centered" framework. I was told that "Codebook" is "data centered". Can you help with which are "form centered" framework and which works well (and what would be the cost $$). If you just list the names, like "FoxExpress", "FireFox", etc, that will not help me, I need more than "titles" descrptions.

If you want to see how Object Oriented Analysis and Design THEORY are applied to Visual Foxpro order "Codebook For Mere Mortals" from Oak Leaf Enterprises. It has an interesting approach to creating flexible applications.
I have learned about VFP and about what is expected in a professional level Windows 95/98/NT application by examining the features in "Codebook For Mere Mortals". After using "Mere Mortals" for about six weeks I have concluded it is a good learning tool if one wishes to become a "senior VFP developer". Some of the best elements in articles published in Foxtalk are incorporated right in Mere Mortals.

I have also used Visual FoxExpress and i believe it is also a good choice....
but I only have time to learn one framework .... so i chose Mere Mortals.
However , FoxExpress does not adhere to OO Analysis and Design principles as strictly as Mere Mortals does.

Some developers could care less about adhering to OOA & D anyway .....

To summarize Visual FoxExpress and Mere Mortals are quality frameworks well worth the money spent ... but only pick one ....

there may be other frameworks out there that are good as well ... but i have never tried them (only 24 hours in 1 day)

DAve.
