You'll have to forgive me for the response delay, I am working with a Network Consultant now to fix another problem that I inherited. Remember that I am just scratching the surface here with what I know about VFP so bear with me. When I open the database I see this in the command window:

OPEN DATABASE "c:\my documents\scan.dbc" EXCLUSIVE
MODIFY DATABASE

In this database I have remote views (two views, each one to a different table) set up to the backend. I browse the view and can scroll just fine, unless I try to change a field, a very insignificant change of one character, and I get the "Conflict Error" message.
