The error doesn't have anything to do with the project. But once tables are marked as part of a DBC, then they must be freed before they can be added to another. IOW, no table can belong to more than one DBC.
You *should* have been given the option of deleting the link and freeing the table. If so then that is one way to go about it.
FWIW, I guess I've just been lucky but in...er...4 of VFP use I've never had a DBC get so corrupted that I had to abandon it (knock on wood). Though I've had to DATABASE VALIDATE RECOVER a few times. I know that Stonefield Tools is used by a lot of people to recover tables and DBCs.
