I'd start by checking my cabling - replace the silver sation running between the modem and wall jack; use as short a length as feasible. It's likely that the problem is either there, or you've got a source of noise on the phone cable segment between you and the common point where signals are split off to go to connectors where you get a good connection. Broken wires, poor contact connections on the wall connector itself, or a miswired wall outlet are all possible problem sources.
I'd also not rule out the modem; if you can't connect the computer and modem to another outlet where a different computer can make a 56K connect on a regular basis, then the modem and driver are prime suspects. If the problem moves with the computer, look at the computer and its components as the source of trouble; if it seems anchored to the outlet, then the phone cabling is suspect.

Soy técnico en computadores y he chequeado la configuración y esta se encuentra bien. Mande a revisar el modem y esta bien.
