That depends not only on the size of the table, it depends more on the network, the indexes, how many collisions might be there, the amount of RI-code in the database, whether you use Rushmore or not, how the database is structured, how much local memory you have. I think, it would be cheaper to upgrade all computers to 64 MB RAM and establish a 100MIPS network rather than trying to rewrite the application.
