That's easy. You can say that you will make a small prototype of the APP in VFP, and then, when the other project is finished, compare the results.
It worked for me years ago, when I was working for other company (Before starting mine). In 4 weeks I developed the app, and was used as a model for the Oracle/Deveopers 2000 one. 4 months later the Oracle project was dropped, and the "prototype" (enhaced by me in the meanwhile) is still in use.
