>(John's brain comes to screeching halt)....I don't have a lot of experience with top-level forms but I thought that Desktop=.T. was a requirement with the VFP _SCREEN hidden. In fact, I thought I tried leaving Desktop default and didn't work. Also, I thought the Desktop property = .T. was a requirement for forms that weren't going to run in the main VFP screen, but rather on the Windows desktop?

Hi John, I quote, from vfp Help:

"The Desktop property is ignored if the ShowWindow property is set to 2 - As Top-Level form."

So it makes no difference, I guess, though I've never tried it .T. I think the problem Mark had was just related to firing the modal so early. I've used modals in top-levels many times, launched form buttons, right-clicks, menus, etc., never any trouble.
