lcFilter1 and lcFilterH are determined at runtime. Some other reports include about a dozen sorting options and have about 6 or so outer joins.
In AccountMate, there is a report form where the user can decide what the selection criteria are and the sort options. For example, the user may decide to include only creation dates within the current period and want only records that have not been printed. The report form will generate the where clause and pass it to that program. That program will in turn pass back the cursor and what report is to be run. (Most of the time there is only 1 report, but sometimes there are more for multicurrency or some other special case.)
There are 3 free tables that run the report form. They specify the report sorting, filtering, and other misc. features (like wether or not to include notes, time printer, user name, the ability to batch the report, ...)
It is not perfect, but it is quite slick.
