>Visual FoxPro Developers Association is an international community of Visual FoxPro developers. Its mission is to enhance the benefits of pooling our efforts, experiences and resources to make Visual FoxPro -- the greatest Windows development tool -- even better. Specifically, we intend to make the resulting applications visible to new potential customers, show off source code that’s beneficial to the developer community and create a base of knowledgeable candidates that are available to create Visual FoxPro Applications in a World Wide environment.

Very lofty goals..... How would this be funded? Clearly, there are some full-time jobs involved here. Who would pay those expenses? Finally, MS does not see fit to market VFP as a stratigic tool. Therefore, if VFP were the greatest Windows Development Tool, would'nt MS market it better? Also, no one tool is the greatest.

Sorry, way too much emotion here, and not enough objectivity. It is a platform of what you want, not what is economically or technically feasible.

IMHO, your better bet is to first start with a captive audience, the folks that support user groups. Essentially, that is what you are talking about, a world-wide VFP user group. MS has a listing of every VFP group out there. Start with that.

>Visual FoxPro Developers Association's original focus is to extend Visual FoxPro's name recognition in the eyes of the press, local community groups and IT Directors. Once accomplished the VFPDA will then be able to assist organizations in need of locating developers in a specific area for Visual FoxPro Application Development, or in porting existing FoxPro data environments to SQL Server environments.

Once accomplished. Hold on... Before going any further, you need to have at least a few ideas on how that would be accomplished. While you don't need the nitty-gritty detail, you do need to put some substance behind it.

>Visual FoxPro Developers Association's goals act in a proactive manner to better meet our growing community's needs. Those needs including sharing knowledge, names and organizations that may in some future time become part of the public domain. An underlying goal of this effort will continue to create opportunities which bring Visual FoxPro developers closer to their user community. We expect this to have a positive impact on the character of future releases of Visual FoxPro .

Is our community growing???? I don't think it is. Finally, how do you plan to influence the charater of future VFP releases???
