I am not sure if this will help but it is in the same ballpark.

VFP has a bug with Graphics in the TreeViewControl.

I was able to run the control from source with no problem, but when running from an EXE the graphics would not show up.

The work around:
Exclude (not remove) the graphics that you want to display for each node from the project, place the graphics in the applications root directory.

Works great after that!
