Jim, (sorry Igor)

The "Brooklyn Bridge" crap was disguised 'personal' attacks - on everyone who feels that there might be a germ of value in a VFPDA. And lots fell for it too, unfortunately.

It is worth questioning, at least in my little mind, why it is that the "established pros" of VFP are fully satisfied with the basic status quo (WishList, documentation, MS 'strategy' for VFP, SIGs/forums as basis for all, etc) yet the more "common" folk have some serious questions about it all.

There is another point to all this too, which (I feel) is commonly forgotten - countless VFP developers are not participating in SIGs or forums or even the Web for that matter, so they have no opportunity to see all of this stuff and all of the MS KnowledgeBase stuff and related stuff.
Advertising in a 'general' periodical or two just might give them some help, ideas, etc too.

And it remains a total mystery to me as to WHY John constantly and consistently attacks the idea. He's said his piece, but he cannot leave it at that. That seems 'personal' to me.

>>I agree with John. The proposed organization isn't clearly defined enough for one to make any decision about it. From the threads I have read it would seem there is some desire to promote VFP. However, VFP belongs to MS and MS controls what can or cannot be done regarding promotion. The organization may raise plenty of funds and find MS says no to any promotion.

>>As for a professional organization, well Professional Organizations don't advertise products, trade groups do that. There are already some very execellent professional organizations for software developer's namely the ACM and the IEEE Computer Society and both are open for anyone to join.
>>
>>As for a VFP devleopers organizationj, well there are user's groups around the world now, they can be joined and supported. The ones that disolved did so because the members left, not because of some evil plot.
