I am still having difficulty understanding how valid and when works, but I put the code in valid as you recommended, and the control still don't refresh when type in a value and I locate the record (except my grid), only when I drop down the combobox window and select the Item. All of my controls are bound through controlsource, and my combobox is bound through rowsource with rowsourcetype = fields.
