Works fine under VFP 5.0 Win95, using full path name, and filename+.
rename c:\temp\1234. to c:\temp\2345. works !
rename c:\temp\1234 to c:\temp\2345 File not found
rename c:\temp\1234. to 2345. works, but *moves* file to default path.
