Except for snake oil salesmen, it is our responsibility to provide this to them. We are the professionals who are supposed to be able to figure this out for them.

As 'professionals who are supposed to be able to figure this out for them', how exactly are we supposed to assess the viability of a particular product if there is to be no debate about the future (positive or otherwise) of that product ? I guess that was the intent of the original question, while I agree that my response to the reply was a little less than serious, just to say that a products future is 'bright' & will last forever gives no valid reasons to believe it.

If there are serious misgivings about a products future, then as a professional I need to know about those views. I would be negligent if I dismissed them out of hand & provided a client with an unsupportable solution, because the supplier withdraws the product.

I believe that questions of this type, & rumours, have a very valid place here, & I would doubt the use of UT if there were an 'immediate purge' feature on this type of question. As good as VFP is, & myself & the majority of people here seem to have that view, we have no control over the actions of MS & the future of VFP.
