I always wrote programs to archive messages from FIDO (I think that's still round), CIS, UT, etc. It took getting used to not having to archive the messages myself once the UT dropped the possibility of archiving the messages yourself. But don't forget, since the UT owns alls the message information (and I presume many ideas in them), the UT would not want anyone to archive the messages to their harddrive.
