>"bad press about VFP and Citrix"? Could you elaborate on that a little bit? Our company uses Citrix and now you've got me wondering if we are in for trouble down the road. Is this in print anywhere that I can obtain via Internet or otherwise?

Hi Joe,

Perhaps the word 'press' was inappropriate. What I was referring to was reponses to queries similar to Chaim's on this forum and Compuserv from a few months ago. The problems seemed to stem from the fact that Fox (including VFP) does not use true windows controls and therefore the transmission from server to workstation required sending a bitmap. I believe the problem was initially mitigated by having developers minimize the portion of the screen that is changed etc etc.

Things have changed. I do not know what technical advances have been made, in fact I am not sure what the relationship between Citrix and TS is (I am of the belief that there is a relationship), but the problems (based on more recent posts) seem to have dissappeared.

When my client began searching for an alternative to PC Anywhere, I tried to steer him towards a client server architecture. He did not heed my advice and went to Citrix and finally TS and the results are outstanding.

For the benefit of all here, I will get the details of his setup and post them.

If you are having good luck with your setup , then I would save your memo in the 'good press' column.

Thanks, Ken
