I have 5.0a on my Win98 machine at home, and have experienced no such problems. Did you search for any other old resource files that might get hit before the right one? And have you opened the foxuser in vfp to make sure that it's not damaged or something? Usually the delete idea works, make sure you get the FPT as well as the dbf...
