Daniel,
When you check in, you will be givien a packet of all material that will be in the sessions.
When you attend a session, you will be given a handout of the material to be covered in the session. Most of the speakers will have a copy of their session notes on a CD included in the packet.
As for a laptop, I have never used one at Devcon. You should do just fine without one.
