Title:
Time to rethink the database ?
this could be a silly question. N-Tier makes a lot of sense specially in VFP where data cursors are very quick to develop and run. In the data management tier, it makes so much sense to have all the business rules in the one place and not have any triggers in the database where both the code and the developing strategies can be easily obscured. What I mean is, the database is under continous development as is the application and a data management object(s) makes all of this more visible.
Persistant relationships within the database no longer seem that important to me because I now only use Views and leave the tables be.
I find also that I am choosing to create view cursors on the fly within a data control object and therefore need a database container even less.
What am I missing ?
