Out of the overwhelming number of problems for the 300,000 plus refugees that have poured out of Kosovo, there is one that the FoxPro community might be able to help with. News reports have pointed out that family members are being separated and possibly sent to different host countries. And there are about 10,000 persons that were in the Macdedonia Blace camp that UNHCR can't account for.
Is there a possibility that UT volunteers could program a web-based database to record the name and current location of refugees? I'm imagining a web page where one could search for information on an individual or family name. Possibly village or city of origin. And of course fields to enter this type of info including current location. There should be a memo field where notes could be made and messages passed between family members. Perhaps a special field for emergency needs.
Some ISP would need to provide web hosting. I don't think the storage requirements would go beyond 2 gigs. I really have no idea of the number of hits that would occur. Probably slow at first but could build rapidly.
I can't help much. I have never programmed for the web and I'll still swamped by an overdue project. But I thought I would toss out the idea.
