Title:
Reprinting reports from report files
I am working on an application that prints a report form to a file.
At a later time that HP PCL file needs to be printed. I am just using REPORT FORM TO FILE so the printer codes are being used as a limited type of encryption.
The problem arises using Windows98 and VFP5. I am using the copy (filename) to (printerport) with no results. I can use the copy (filename) (printerport) in DOS and the report will print out. The command executes in Fox without any errors but nothing prints out. I did try and use the run command with the DOS copy and I get a file not found with the DOS session flashes up. My problem there might be that my file is not DOS 8.3 format.
This doesn't seem to be the case with Win95 or NT.
The report files are being emailed with a fox executeable that is zipped up into a self-extracting exe that when the email receipient clicks on the attachment it unzips launches the fox exe and (is suppose to) prints out the report files.
The report files are basically pay stubs. So using the print code file for limited encryption is needed. The zip self extractor will erase the files it unzips so there aren't any report files hanging around for someone to try and open or print.
Any suggestions or work arounds?
Ron
