probably because most people use SET CENTURY to control this and don't change it for the individual control. The behavior of SET CENTURY hasn't changed, it's just the Century property that is different.

And I must admit, I haven't noticed this either until some months ago someone asked on CompuServe the same question as you did and I tried to find a solution.
