I've been following the 'Rumour' threads and ones like it and deceided to comment. It seems to me, and feel free to correct me for being wrong, that there is more whinging and whining about other posts supposedly whinging and whining than there is in these original posts, if you see what I mean.

Now sooner does someone report a rumour than 50 people reply in a massive thread saying very little except 'take your whining and post it somewhere else'.

Now, I've gone on record as saying that knowing about these rumours is essential since you can't counter a rumour if you don't know about it and not being able to refute these rumours makes you look like an ostrich with your head in the sand, so I find the response to the original post quite often beggars belief.

I know that many VFP developers are passionate about their preferred tool, and I'm not one of them, but passion doesn't really have a place in business. Business required cold, logical and professional thought in order to provide the client with the best solution, however that's beside the point. The replies that get posted to rumour reports are quite often passionate and sometimes offensive but are definitely whinging and whining to a greater degree than the post they are complaining about.

Perhaps there needs to be two new categories. 'Rumours' for reports of rumours and 'Replies to Rumours' where these passionate replies to the rumours may be posted. Then you can skip the rumours if you want to whereas those of us who want to know the rumours for the reasons stated above can read them with out having to wade through all the extraneous replies to the post.

I await the flaming replies to this post with a worm on my tongue (that's baited breath for those of you who don't remember or didn't watch Mork & Mindy)!
Regards,

MarkA
