Do you think that SET REFRESH really has anything to do with Refresh() methods?

Neither the VFP docs nor the new Hacker's Guide links them in any way.

On the other hand, we *do* know that SET REFRESH *does* impact more than just BROWSE, even though not documented. But I have never seen any connection (yet) with a Refresh() method.
