I discovered that I did not need the primary keys from the other tables in the view because I was using a combobox to display the value anyway. I had been updating the updateable primary key from the base table that I want to update. I thought that if the pk's from the other tables weren't marked as updateable it wouldn't matter. I eliminated the other tables from the view. This worked fine.
