If you were using any version of Foxpro you would have your choice of MDY, DMY, YMD with a single statement, and you would not be concerned about the Y2K as date fields in all xbase flavours have internally stored the century.
I suppose you could create a subclass of the textbox to encapsulate the boring process you mention... you know.. try to make VB behave like VFP .. :))
