I would definitely run the Coverage Log on your app. You may be surprised at some of the bottlenecks, and some things can be easily sped up. But overall, the most performance improvement may come from dividing the pages up somehow into some "independent" forms that can be launched separately (or "on top" modal forms, even) for specific areas of work, that's the way we do our systems...
