You are correct, I failed to read your posting correctly in that you were linking rather than loading.

The General field will contain the link to the file and a presentation of the object (I'm not sure if it's stored as a bitmap or in meta-file format).

I still couldn't get the equivalent of OLE_UPDATED working (using getFldState() was one method suggested but unfortunately proved unreliable).

Do you want me to e-mail the other code or are you going to try the General field method?
