>>>Hi,
>>>
>>>I had a program in vfp 5.0 with all the support files in the same directory and a shortcut on each station pointing to this file. I recompiled in 6.0 but it hang when a run my form's.(Error loading file -record number 8 ...) This is a simple form that work great but not in .exe. I did not want to make a dummy installation on each station. I did not have to in vfp 5.0.
>>>
>>>I test this on a system that never had vfp ever installed on it. I run the 5.0 version correctly but not the recompiled 6.0.

>>The odds are that you haven't properly created all the necessary registry entries; several of the VFP 6 components require registration, and have dependencies on updated system components. Simply copying files in place is not an adequate installation. If you don't want to use a Setup-Wizard created install to put the runtime in place, the VFP6R.DEP file outlines the dependencies of the required files for VFP6. Make certain to register all components that require it, and register all support components that require updating and registration as well. In addition, I'd make certain that the systems have DCOM installed (see the FAQ for how to determine if DCOM support is installed, and how to install it.)
>>
>>Also make certain that you have the most current distributable components; there's an updated Setup Wizard available for download from Microsoft's Web site (try http://msdn.microsoft.com/vfoxpro, and download what you need from the appropriate links.)
>>
>>I haven't reviewed the list of files; again, refer to the VFP6R.DEP file to see what you may be missing.

In addition, I did notice that the .REG file that gets distributed with the runtime isn't present, so the odds are that the 4 registry values referenced in it aren't being created, either.
