I must be missing something very silly here. I have always enforced validation in code, but I got tired of everyone telling me I was missing out by not using the DBC, which would allow valdiation to be enforced when other front ends opened my tables.

So to test it, I set up a simple table in a DBC, three numeric fields. The first two fields have as validation rule a call to a function, which is stored in the DBC. The function adds the first two fieldds and puts the sum in the third.

Then I linked the DBC into an Access database (using the VFP ODBC database driver), added the table to the Access project, and browsed it. Nothing. The validation effect was not enforced.

Can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong?

TIA,
