Now the problem comes when I print the total in the preprint form. Since the line item printing are not fix i.e. it may be 2 or more, I just don't know how to get to the exact line where the total is. Since I have to skip some lines in the preprint form line item to get to the total line, what should I do when I leave the detail band and enter the group footer band to skip these line.

If it is a pre-printed form, you should design the report with all the possible fields that can print on the report and fill the variables to be displayed in your calling program. The report should not be allowed to dynamically display detail lines.
