>A newspaper columnist has noted that it's time to start figuring out what to call the first decade of the 2000s, like we call decades the 80s or 90s now.

>She suggests we call it the "Hundreds," but that doesn't seem to have a very nice ring to it. My brainstorming so far came up with "Singles" as the best-sounding idea, though it's a little short in context. Anyone else have other ideas?

I'd vote for the "oughts", a.k.a the "noughts". As in:
1) I knew I ought to have purchased a new computer before 01-Jan-2000!
2) This d*mn computer's not Y2K compatible, hand me my thirty-ought-six.
3) I tried to make this software Y2K compatible, but it's all for nought.
