Hi Marie,
This problem happens regularly, for a number of reasons. For the most part, what has happened is that your tables file header is corrupted. It could be something as simple as the record count being off. Try a commercial utility like dSalvage or FileFix to fix the problem.
If you do not have access to such tools, send me your email address and I will mail you some freeware utilities that should work. Some of them are even written in good old FoxPro for DOS.
