If the application is in constant use, another way to improve the speed perception is to launch the application at Windows StartUp and have it minimize itself. That way the 5 seconds gets lost in the general startup time and the app is sitting there in the system tray ready to spring to life.

And I know there is a resource downside to this, Stephen :-D


>thanks for the input, i will try the suggestions i have recieved so far, they are all helpful. i understand there is a lot of overhead. when my endusers go from their dos foxpro and clipper apps to the new vfp6.0 environment they will be concerned with speed. i suppose it is inevitable that i will hear those complaints. so where is the tradeoff?
