Who said that you couldn't use all of them (except Access, of course...) :) I think that a good combination would be InterDev for the front end, VFP COM layer in the middle and either VFP tables or SQL-Server/Oracle for the database. you have the best of each in this scenario.
>The firm I work for is currently deciding which techology/ product to use to move toward internet and intranet data entry systems. they have asked for my input. I'm pretty certain that access is not the one and that Foxpro is too resource 'heavy' to use via the internet
>What we do (sort of)
>--Collect data via fax, phone and snailmail
>-via fax- data is recieved via fax (bubble sheets) swept partailly into foxpro and partially into SQL database using foxpro programs.
>-Phone and Snail mail -Data entry clerks input data from calls/mail via VFP data entry forms (partial VFP and partial SQL write and read) over NT using win 95.
>The data recieved varies widely, ranging from 3 fields on data to 600+ fields per project and up to 1/2 million pieces of data. The VFP data entry forms are varied and complex including Skip paterns-automatic fills lookups and data validation.Reporting is done typically in excel.
>Foxpro in the Client/server environment is scalable enough to handle any problems to date. I dont think Foxpro is 'light enough' to handle these requirements over the web. And Access is'nt scalable enough. Is InterDev the route to go or is there another product out there that will allow the flexabilty and scalablity that we now enjoy with Foxpro.
