I agree that this is a shortfall of VFP. I don't know why it does things this way. I have a little program REPORTS_FIX.PRG that I run before I compile or after I edit a report. In it I loop through all FRX files and do the replace on EXPR, TAG, and TAG2. Then I have code for some special reports that have non-standard settings like duplexing, etc.. It ain't pretty, but it works.

So, is your problem solved?
