pcAnywhere is tricky. It has a LARGE swap file used to update the screen. Look in the pcAnywhere/DATA directory.
I suggest:
Delete this file.
Reconnect to the remote computer and DELETE the ESL and EXE file
Do another file transfer to re copy.
pcAnywhere uses a method where it copies only the changed parts of code but sometimes it reads from the swap file and leads to grief.
I had an app that I ran on a clients machine. Even though I made changes and copied the new exe and ran, the old one would run despite deleting it before copying. Deleting the swap file solved this.
