One property that is very helpful though not always 'truthful' is documentfile. Help says this.... "DocumentFile returns the name of the file from which a linked OLE object was created. DocumentFile contains the empty string for embedded (not linked) objects." HOWEVER, non-OLE files, such as text, zip, etc get placed inside an object package via the packager.exe inside your windows directory. This is a holdover from at least Win 3.1 I believe. The object package effectively voids the documentfile property. For example say you link to a file called temp.txt in the c:\windows directory. The property will return a null as .txt files are not ole enabled. One might think (or assume) that the file is embedded and not linked. Untrue. If you had MS Word installed on your machine and the file was called temp.doc, the property would return 'C:\windows\temp.doc'. I have been looking for something to tell the path when a file is inside the object package, but so far to no avail. Email me if you wish for further explanation. HTH
