I saw this question was answered on UT. Basically opened combobox breaks up timer processing (like in 2.6 combo broke READ TIMEOUT) and produces weird behaviour. The workaround is to disable timer when you open combo (When,GotFocus,DownClick events) and enable again when you close it (Valid,LostFocus).
