It did the same with a dummy variable, so that wasn't it. I redid it and it works now.

>By any chance was there a field in an empty table named inrate? I noticed that all other fields were preceded with an m except inrate. A little testing under VFP (no 2.x on any machines) showed that this would cause the behavior you're talking about.
