I think Code Complete was Stephen Connell. You should really look into buying the set of books available at Hentzenwerke.com They are written by the masters of the VFP world. Effective Application Development.... by Jim Booth is a wonderful resource, as are the rest of the books.

Yes. Look into MS Visual Modeller or Rationale Rose. Rational is pretty pricy, but VM is a subset of it and almost just as useful. In essence, any UML tool out there will really help you get into OOAD and OOP, a foundation which will really help in the VFP and MS DNA and COM worlds.
