I wondered about the _datatoclip stuff because I thought it would blow up on null values and had a record limit. I thought I had run into some of this with version 5, but 6 was happy as a clam. I guess if I wasn't so lazy (or busy) I would test all of this and find out for sure.

The most I have to deal with moving is around 5000 recs, 20 fields, and it's not much slower than 100 recs -- but this all fits in memory, and it's fast enough for our purposes. I'm lazy about testing 25,000 or so records, too :)
Also, I'm not sure what occurs, though, when the "clip" exceeds available memory, that's what I'd be concerned about with a large number of records and some older machines. Maybe someone can answer this?
