>Larry,
>I do not believe your app can tell if line is busy or "No answer" or detect answering machine when you use simple modem. You will need something more sophisticated, like Dialogic phone card plus special software package (like Visual Voice from Artisoft or CallSuite from Parity Software). Take a look on Dialogic and Computer Telephony magazine web sites.
>What type of application you are building? Sales? Collections? Survey? How many abandoned you can allow? How big your calling list?
>Also if there is 1 modem per agent you will not gain alot even if app can detect answering machine - agent will wait doing nothing anyway. And agent can detect it much more accurate. So it looks like in your case simple autodialer that comes with W95 could be an answer.

This is a sales app where operators are pitching to potential customers using a predefined phone list.
So a modem cannot detect "Busy", "No answer", etc?
Thanks
