Hi Brendan ----

>At the time of posting this message 26+ replies!!!!. To my way of thinking this indicates a problem with the VFP6 runtime environment. We all seem quite willing to accept a lengthy wait while the development environment is loaded, (simple programs WILL run faster from the command window than those compiled as an exe).

It's the hit we take in working with a 4-GL. C coders laugh at BASIC coders who laugh at us. The higher up the interpretive ladder, the slower the EXE. I know, not always, before somebody starts naming exceptions :-)

I don't know if that is fair. Sure, our DOS and UNIX stuff used to run swiftly and less buggy, but the trade-off was that all that stuff was top-down, menu-driven and empowered the developer and not always the user. The user could choose his or her interface as long as it was 80x25 lines :-) and , sometimes, we'd actually let them have up to 8 colors!
