STEP = ON in 6.0 didn't work either. After I've called something, it'll show up in the array returned by AMEMBERS(), but not before. To paraphase Bob Dylan, "There's somethin' happenin' here, and I don't know what it is, do I Ms Fol-Some" (poetic license, sorry < g >).
