From the standpoint of programmability, I'd make a strong case for WinFax Pro for small systems with a single fax server; it's got a solid DDE and OLE Automation interface (both accessible from VFP), support for a wide range of hardware and operating environments, and it's not cost-prohibitive. A number of my clients use it, and we use it ourselves at Weatherhill for outbound fax applications (we send out sales reports, royalty statements and the like by email, or by fax when email isn't an option.) It's also got a fairly flexible inbound facility that can notify people, print and even OCR inbound documents automatically. There's solid support for scanners using a TWAIN driver under both Win9x and NT 4.0 that actually works well. There are network options available, both for shared outbound faxing and simple shared access to received faxes. And it has relatively modest hardware requirements, so that we can put up a dedicated fax system built from what would have otherwise been retired equipment.
