>> Ed I found the x#!@#%$% thing. It turns out I missed a couple of indexes where HOME. was used. The expression builder (VFP or SDT5.1d) inserted the referances into a couple of indexes ( which were not even refered to here) and caused the UNKNOWN ALIAS error when I used the ALIAS MHome statement in my code.
VFP opened the file calling it MHome and the index associated with the table tried to use HOME. Hense the error.
